There are special places in the world that carry a feeling of excitement and romance all throughout it. An example of one of these cities is Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal. Lisbon is located right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, which of course means it has beautiful beaches. In addition, it has bleach-white limestone buildings, stunning castles, and intimate cobblestone streets. Its primary purpose was to celebrate the successful voyage of Vasco de Gama, and to thank the Virgin Mary for safeguarding the voyage. In the Monastery, you will find all sorts of ocean-themed artwork and decorations, as the monks of the Monastery were responsible for praying for traveling sailors. Vasca de Gama, along with many other important people, are buried inside the Monastery.

Life in Lisbon is heavily influenced by the sea, and in order to get a good feel for some of the creatures that live in the sea near Lisbon, the Oceanarium is a great place to go. In a tank the size of four Olympic-sized swimming pools with naturally occurring variations of underwater habitats. For example, there are sections for both Antarctic sea creatures and tropical ones. This makes it so that you can animals like penguins can thrive in one area, while sharks and tropical fish can thrive in another. Each of these sections is separated by a clear wall, making it look like everything is swimming in the same area.
