For starters, I must confess, the place that I was living can't truly be described as an apartment. I'm one of those kinds of individuals that needs to go so far off the beaten path that I can't find it again. Hotels and Apartments? Not genuinely my bag. So certainly, when somebody like me goes to travel to Rio de Janeiro I'm prone to face some distinctive complications. Especially if you go to look at the kind of rentals I looked at. If you're taking unconventional actions, you are very likely to have some unconventional situations, as I discovered.
I had actually located some flats located in one of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. This particular favela was situated in Copacabana, however it was also very close to Ipanema. While lots of people would likely try to find hotels or apartments, I actually found this unique item of real estate to be embedded in the culture. Funk parties, loud music, samba, cheap fireworks at all times of the day and night. If this is actually the holiday you seek, then a favela is for you. If not, perhaps you may contemplate a different strategy for your vacation.
When I relocated into my new accommodations, it wasn't long before I learned I had an unforeseen guest. Or you could possibly would refer to him as an invader. Though it may be contended as to who was the actual invader. I imagine to this rodent, I was in fact encroaching on his territory. Possibly he was there long before I appeared. Also, this isn't really something that occurred to me while I'd been seeking flats and rentals in the local slums of Rio de Janeiro. But what can you do?
One could possibly inquire, what's it like living with a rat? Well, most of us have had that friend who is "that guy." You know the kind. The ones who make noise when you're wanting to sleep. They consume your food and don't tidy up their messes. Though I need to admit, in comparison with other roommates in other apartments I've stayed in, this rodent was quite well mannered. But then again, the bar has been set low, very low.
Possibly next time I will agree to the approach of staying in hotels. Although for the money, there's no chance I'd have gotten anywhere as close to Copacabana or Ipanema beach had I not migrated into some accommodations that might accept my fuzzy four legged friend with a tail.
